Walt Cronin Biography
Walt’s music has charted on Roots Music Report a number of times in the Americana and Folk categories. His first CD – The Gousters(gow-sters) 2005 spent more than 60 weeks in the top 50 0f the Roots Music Report Folk Chart. Some of the songs he has written are centered on life in America after the Vietnam war during which Walt was a navy corpsman (medic) attached to the marines. Through these experiences he became a veteran advocate and member of Veterans for Peace.
His lyrical style has been described by Brenda Barbee, Staff reviewer of Roots Music Report. ” But there is a great deal more to their music than just great sound. Listen closely to the lyrics, for they reveal extraordinary songwriting talent. Within those lyrics is a rich experiential content that could only be produced by one who has strong emotional ties to the theme.”
Sense the World, Walt’s last CD (2019) is crafted in his eclectic style covering Folk, Country and Americana with Rock overtones. His producer, Martin Beal’s amazing array of musicality and arrangements combined with Walt’s lyrical strengths and songwriting skills have created a powerful and insightful album, 8 years in its production compiling the songs he wrote during this time period. Mary Gauthier, the singer songwriter who wrote “Mercy Now,” had this to say about the song “Way Back Home,” on Sense the World: “Love it! I enjoyed the fierce spirit of perseverance in this, the willingness to just keep GOING. It’s beautiful!”
Still writing and recording, Walt hopes to compile enough songs to get out what would be his 6th CD at some point in the future.
” Life is a journey so I’m just trying to read my road map as I go along like everybody else.” Walt Cronin
